Luigi Mangione, 26, arrested today on gun charges, is a "strong person of interest" in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, the NYPD announced.
Mangione wasdetained at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He has ties to Maryland, California and Hawai'i.
A McDonald's employee called local police after recognizing Mangione from coverage of the shooting suspect, NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said during an afternoon press conference.
