Time magazine revealed its 10-person shortlist for its "2024 Person of the Year," which will be announced Thursday:
- 🗳️ In politics, there's President-elect Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, British royal Kate Middleton, Russian economist and opposition leader Yulia Navalnaya, and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.
- 💵 In business and entertainment, there's Elon Musk, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Fed chair Jay Powell and podcaster Joe Rogan.
🎰 Between the lines: Time rarely names someone "Person of the Year" twice, stacking the odds against Zuckerberg (2010), Trump (2016), Harris (2020, shared with Joe Biden) and Musk (2021).
- But presidential-election winners are often "Person of the Year." Several past presidents — including Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush — were named twice.
