With the increase of false content on the web, state lawmakers across the country are pushing legislation mandating schools to put more emphasis on teaching students how to be conscientious consumers of information online, per The Associated Press.
Why this matters: This started gaining traction after last year's extremely divisive and polarizing presidential election, which highlighted how even adults can be misled by inaccurate information online. And President Trump often labels news he simply doesn't like as "fake news," which adds to the growing problem of media literacy.
Donald Trump in one year has done more to discredit and diminish truth, facts and media than any other figure in our lifetime.
You might love his middle finger to the media. But even the strongest of Trump backers should think long and hard about a world without facts and common truths.
Aiming to further stem controversy over how it handles aging iPhone batteries, Apple said Saturday that its lower replacement price will go into effect immediately, rather than in late January.
"We expected to need more time to be ready, but we are happy to offer our customers the lower pricing right away," Apple said in a statement to Axios. "Initial supplies of some replacement batteries may be limited."
Why it matters: Apple faces multiple lawsuits over the issue, and has been under intense criticism for slowing down some older phones. The company said earlier this week that it would cut the price of replacement batteries from $79 to $29, at least until the end of 2018 and update the iPhone software to be clearer on battery status.
