I was perusing the Getty archives this week and saw that 40 years ago this week, Spinal Tap played Metro.

I sent the above photo to Metro owner Joe Shanahan, and he remembered the show vividly: "It was the first time Metro was in People magazine! They were so much fun, and it was a great night of jokes in and out of character."

Zoom out: It's hard to believe that 1984 was 40 years ago, but it's important to realize how great that year was for Chicago news, sports and culture.
