This weekend marks the 32nd anniversary of the Great Chicago Loop Flood.

Flashback: The disaster began when a river construction project pierced the wall of a long forgotten freight tunnel, allowing water to surge into underground shafts that connected buildings including Marshall Field's, City Hall and the Merchandise Mart.

  • The flooding resulted in over $2 billion in damages.

State of play: We're using the flood anniversary to kick off our new Sunday Chicago trivia series. The first category is: 1992.
