Leveraging artificial intelligence will take center stage at the upcoming X4 tech summit.

State of play: This year's conference will showcase new AI innovations and demos, Qualtrics spokesperson Emily Heffter tells Axios.

  • The company will also formally introduce its new head of AI initiatives Gurdeep Singh Pall, a former Microsoft executive.

Driving the news: Qualtrics' annual experience management conference returns to the Salt Palace Convention Center on May 1–3 and is expected to draw about 10,000 attendees.

  • Former first lady Michelle Obama, NBA Hall of Famer and Utah Jazz minority stake owner Dwayne Wade and Delta CEO Ed Bastian are among this year's speakers.

The big picture: The major tech conference, geared toward C-suite executives, comes after layoffs swept the tech industry in the past year.

  • "We're in a climate where everybody's trying to increase their revenue, decrease their costs, and keep their employees really engaged and productive," Heffter said.
  • "Those are really difficult things to do."

Flashback: Last October, Qualtrics announced it would lay off roughly 780 employees, or about 15% of its workforce, per the Deseret News.
