With 2024 in the rearview, we here at Axios Philadelphia are starting fresh with a slate of New Year resolutions.
Why it matters: We don't just report on what's happening in Philly. We live here, just like our readers — meaning we, too, have put all our trust and faith in Saquon Barkley.
So here are our goals for the upcoming year.
We resolve to: Get to the bottom of several outstanding questions from 2024, including: Will or won't Jay-Z's "Made in America" return this summer? Where can we find the city's next public restroom? Or what was the deal with those mystery drones?
We resolve to: Track the progress of the Sixers' $1.3 billion arena in Center City and how it's affecting nearby neighborhoods, like Chinatown.
🍿 We resolve to: Shamelessly watch with glee as Wawa creeps further into Sheetz territory.
- And hope Wawa doesn't close any more Philly stores.
We resolve to: Accept that "no one likes us" but continue to rock the restaurant and bar world, arts scene, and ultimate sports fandom.
🎧 We resolve to: Blast Philly musicians (on repeat).
⚾ We resolve to: Not hype the Phillies until October.
🏈 We resolve to: Believe Temple's football team can turn it around under new head coach K.C. Keeler.
- We can't let them disband the Owls' program that easily.
🌸 We resolve to: Leave all the picture-taking at the Philadelphia Flower Show this March to the influencers.
🤦 We resolve to: Spell-check our highway signs.
We resolve to: Demand Sylvester Stallone show face at the festival honoring his most iconic character.
- Or at least send a better stand-in than another Rocky statue.
❌ We resolve to: Ignore any future lookalike contests. Enough is enough (unless it's a Mike D'Onofrio one).
We resolve to: Rep the Birds (not flip them) at the Love Park Portal.
📝 We resolve to: Overall, never stop doing our jobs to keep our readers informed of the latest City Hall conflicts, sports intrigues, Kelce shenanigans, and restaurant and bar openings.
