Dan Newhouse, Republican who voted to impeach Trump, wins reelection

Zoom in: Newhouse, a Republican from Sunnyside, led former NASCAR driver Jerrod Sessler, also a Republican, by more than 5 percentage points as of Thursday.

• The Associated Press called the race for Newhouse earlier this week.
• Newhouse has represented the district in central Washington since 2015.

Zoom out: U.S. Rep. David Valadao of California is the other remaining Republican in Congress who supported Trump's impeachment three years ago. Valadao also won his reelection bid this year. 

Catch up quick: The other eight House Republicans who voted to impeach Trump over his actions surrounding the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol either retired or lost their primaries in 2022.

• That included another Republican from Washington, former U.S. Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, who was edged out in the 2022 primary after falling behind Republican Joe Kent, a Trump-endorsed candidate. 
• Herrera Beutler's seat in Washington's 3rd Congressional District ultimately ended up flipping to Democrats when Kent lost to Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in November 2022.
• The seat remains in Democratic hands after Gluesenkamp Perez defeated Kent in a rematch this year.
