Washington voters have reelected Democratic U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell, who defeated Republican Raul Garcia to win a fifth term, the Associated Press reported shortly after polls closed Tuesday.
- Democrats are fighting to defend their seats in Washington's 8th and 3rd congressional districts as the party seeks to win control of the U.S. House.

Zoom in: In Southwest Washington's 3rd Congressional District, the rematch between Democratic U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez and Republican Joe Kent is among the most closely watched races in the country — one of only about 20 toss-up House races nationwide.
- In Washington's other swing House district, the 8th Congressional District, U.S. Rep. Kim Schrier faces a challenge from Republican Carmen Goers, a commercial banker.
Zoom out: In Central Washington, U.S. Rep. Dan Newhouse (R-Sunnyside) is fending off a challenge from another Republican, Jerrod Sessler, an ex-NASCAR driver endorsed by former President Trump.
- Newhouse, who represents Washington's 4th Congressional District, is one of only two House Republicans still in office who voted to impeach Trump in 2021.
- Meanwhile, in the 6th Congressional District, two state senators, Democrat Emily Randall and Republican Drew MacEwen, are competing to replace U.S. Rep. Derek Kilmer (D-Gig Harbor), who isn't seeking reelection.
- Seattle's representatives, U.S. Rep. Adam Smith (D-Bellevue) and U.S. Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Seattle), both face challengers in their reelection bids.
