Voters in Southwest Washington have reelected U.S. Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez in one of the country's most competitive House races, the Associated Press reports.
State of play: The contest in Washington's 3rd Congressional District was listed by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report as one of only two dozen toss-up House races nationwide.
Gluesenkamp Perez defeated Republican Joe Kent, who is backed by former President Trump. AP called the race Saturday for Gluesenkamp Perez.
Catch up quick: The two candidates squared off again after facing each other in 2022, when Gluesenkamp Perez narrowly pulled off an upset victory.
On the campaign trail, Gluesenkamp Perez called some of Kent's views "too extreme," such as his denial of the 2020 election results and his opposition to abortion.
Kent, in turn, accused Gluesenkamp Perez of being soft on border security and supporting policies he says led to increased inflation.
