Thieves Guild Cidery lands at Central Ninth

As hard cider takes hold across America, Salt Lake City has welcomed a new fantasy-themed microcidery.

State of play: Central Ninth's Thieves Guild Cidery, located on 117 W. 900 South, is the latest addition to Salt Lake's growing cider scene, joining Mountain West Hard Cider in the Marmalade neighborhood and Scion Cider down the street.

The full-service tavern will offer about a dozen rotating ciders crafted in-house in a dimly lit space. Ranging from dry to sweet, concoctions will showcase local ingredients.

The intrigue: Patrons can bring their own board games or participate in monthly Dungeons & Dragons battles and tabletop tournaments.

Between the lines: Consumer interest in hard cider is expected to grow as its popularity surges.

Many cider fans enjoy it as a gluten-free alternative to beer.

Hours: It's open noon to 2am Tuesday-Sunday.
