Where to find Salt Lake's best haunted houses, displays and attractions for Halloween

Utahns are famously batty for Halloween — and the proof is all over our neighborhoods.

The big picture: We Google the word "Halloween" more than any other state, per CBS News — especially for Halloween movies. We also:

• are most likely to eat Halloween candy, per Talker Research.
• love candy corn more than any other state, according to Brach's.
• have the nation's highest density of trick-or-treaters, owing to our young population.

Yes, but: Our biggest strength is putting on a show at home, with multiple surveys and studies ranking us No. 1 for time, money and space devoted to Halloween decorating.

Behind the scenes: For years, my kid and I have kept track of scores of Salt Lake's best-decorated houses for the holidays — so this is probably one of the most comprehensive guides to free Halloween displays and haunts in the county.

• We've also listed many the big commercial attractions and can recommend which ones are right for you.

What's inside: As of Oct. 8, we have nearly 100 locations for 2025 mapped with photos. Look for orange ghosts on the map.
