Presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are campaigning in Pennsylvania again this week — putting the Keystone State back in the national spotlight.
Why it matters: Both campaigns are all-in on Pennsylvania, the most important battleground state that'll decide who occupies the White House.
Driving the news: Democratic Lt. Gov. Austin Davis is taking part in a rally of Black voters today at 1pm in Brewerytown.
- Also attending: State Reps. Morgan Cephas and Darisha Parker and council members Rue Landau and Nina Ahmad.
Harris and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, will kick off a bus tour in Pittsburgh on Sunday.
- The bus is headed across Western Pennsylvania ahead of next week's Democratic National Convention in Chicago.
Meanwhile, Trump is campaigning in Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
- It's the second time he's visited Pennsylvania since surviving an assassination attempt in Butler.
State of play: Harris leads Trump in swing states Arizona, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, per the nonpartisan Cook Political Report.
- Trump is clinging to a slim lead in Nevada; they're tied in Georgia.
🗓️ Other upcoming events:
Aug. 19-22: The Democratic National Convention
Gov. Josh Shapiro will address the crowd at Chicago's United Center, Axios Philly has learned.
President Biden and former presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton plus former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will also speak.
Sept. 4: Possible presidential debate in Harrisburg
Tentatively put this one on your calendar.
- Trump has said the first debate between the presidential candidates will take place on Sept. 4 on Fox News. But Harris hasn't confirmed her participation.
Sept. 10: Possible presidential debate in Philadelphia
We're putting an asterisk next to this one, too.
Both candidates will take part in a debate hosted by ABC. But ABC hasn't confirmed Trump's claims that it'll be held at Independence Hall.
