Louisiana's eight electoral votes will go to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, with the Associated Press calling the race shortly after polls closed.
Why it matters: Trump was expected to win the Bayou State, which has been a reliable Republican stronghold for nearly three decades.
The big picture: The Associated Press called Louisiana for the former president less than five minutes after polls closed at 8pm.
- Trump won Louisiana in his two previous presidential runs as well.
Here are live results on a parish-by-parish level from the Louisiana Secretary of State.

- One woman alerted to the news by another guest said, "Well, we knew that."
Catch up quick: Bill Clinton was the last Democratic presidential candidate to win Louisiana. That was in 1996.
