Louisiana unveils "I voted" sticker with a dapper crawfish

Louisiana voters will get a crawfish-themed "I voted" sticker after casting their ballots this fall.
Why it matters: The state's voter stickers are highly sought-after selfie fodder with some even selling on eBay.
The big picture: Secretary of State Nancy Landry unveiled this year's "I voted" sticker on Monday with its creator, Shreveport artist William Joyce.
- The sticker has a cartoon crawfish named Mark de Ballot walking in a blue tuxedo jacket with a black top hat and spats.
- He's in front of a yellow circle background.
Zoom in: Joyce has written and illustrated more than 50 children's books and won six Emmys and an Oscar, Landry says.
- He was the concept artist for the original "Toy Story" movie, according to the Shreveport Times.
Catch up quick: The state started making custom "I voted" stickers in 2016, and four of the five have featured Louisiana animals.
- George Rodrigue's Blue Dog was the first sticker, followed by the "King George" pelican by Lafayette artist Tony Bernard.
- Jefferson Parish artist Becky Fos then designed a colorful version of the state Capitol building in 2022. Last year, her sticker was a mother pelican feeding her three babies.
- And now the dapper crawfish from Joyce.
By the numbers: Louisiana will print 3.5 million stickers for this year's elections at a cost of about $29,000, says Joel Watson, a spokesperson for Landry's office.
- Joyce volunteered his services for the sticker and was not paid, he added. It was the same situation for Fos last year.
