Bad Bunny wrapped up his Puerto Rico residency over the weekend, with several Chicago fans traveling to the island to witness it.

The big picture: The Latin megastar chose a residency in Puerto Rico over a U.S. tour due to concerns over U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents targeting his audience.

Why it matters: Bad Bunny draws. Hundreds of thousands of fans would have bought tickets, hotel rooms and patronized downtown businesses if the star had done shows in Chicago.

By the numbers: Puerto Rico officials are estimating the tour's economic and cultural impact will exceed $200 million.

Average ticket prices for Bad Bunny's residency in his native Puerto Rico were the second highest of any headlining stint in 2025, according to Vivid Seats. The average price was $587.

State of play: Bad Bunny is one of the highest-grossing pop artists working today. His shows at Yankee Stadium in 2022 attracted over 100,000 fans.

It's safe to say that his global reach is similar to other megastars like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé, who both contributed millions of dollars to Chicago's economy in recent years.
