Ex-Trump attorney has N.Y. law license suspended

Former Trump attorney Kenneth Chesebro had his law license suspended in New York Thursday over his role in the alleged effort to overturn Georgia's 2020 election results.

Why it matters: Chesebro pleaded guilty to one felony count of conspiracy to commit filing false documents last year. He is among several ex-Trump lawyers who have been disciplined after working for the former president.

"Having concluded that respondent has been convicted of a serious crime, we accordingly suspend respondent from the practice of law in New York on an interim basis," a New York court ruled.

State of play: Chesebro was one of Trump's co-defendants in the sweeping racketeering case filed in Georgia.

It was put on hold earlier this year pending review from state's Court of Appeals amid Trump's efforts to get prosecutor Fani Willis removed from the case.
In a separate case, Chesebro was also charged in Wisconsin with a felony count of forgery stemming from the fake electors scheme.

Zoom out: Rudy Giuliani, also an ex-lawyer for Trump and a co-defendant in the Georgia indictment, was disbarred in D.C. and New York.

John Eastman, Jeffrey Clark and other Trump attorneys have also faced disciplinary actions that have affected their ability to practice law.
