Weekend heat wave could bring triple-digit temps to Portland

Driving the news: A ridge of high pressure will spike temperatures over the weekend, with chances of triple digits in some areas, per the National Weather Service.

By the numbers: Saturday is expected to top out in the low 90s in Portland.

• Temps will peak on Sunday with highs in the mid- to upper-90s — with a 10% chance of topping 100.

Threat level: The heat wave will be far from the hottest we've seen, but it could still pose some risk of heat exhaustion for vulnerable folks, the weather service warned.

• Rivers and lakes are also still dangerously cold.

What's next: Temperatures should start to moderate by early next week, with a high around 90 on Monday and a relatively cool 84 on Tuesday.
