It's finally the time of year we all wait for — when each weekend is filled with fairs, festivals, food and friends.

Here are seven events to mark on your calendar this month.

Indie rock is back at Edgefield, baby. Bring your emotions out of retirement and sing along to songs like "Freakin' Out on the Interstate" and "Alrighty Aphrodite" — it's what all the cool kids are doing.

Portland Horror Film Festival

June 11

Allergic to the sun? That's fine. Embrace the dark of the Hollywood and Clinton Street theaters for five days of screenings of local and international short horror films.

The Eight Seconds Rodeo

June 15

Portland-based photographer Ivan McClellan is bringing his one-night celebration of Black cowboy culture back to Moda. Expect barrel racing, broncos and bucking bulls.

Zoo Nights

June 20

Oregon Zoo's summer series kicks off this month and runs through August. This all ages event features live music, beer gardens, food carts and some twilight-hour animal viewing.

Portland Pickles' Picklefest

June 28

Fans of briny veggies and baseball collide at this game against the team's biggest rival, the Ridgefield Raptors, at Walker Stadium.

Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways

June 29

Several blocks will be closed to vehicle traffic and opened up to pedestrians and cyclists. There'll be dozens of vendors, family-fun activities and performances.
