James Beard's Taste America makes New Orleans stop

A massive James Beard Foundation event featuring many of New Orleans' top chefs and bartenders is headed to the Sazerac House on Oct. 10.

Why it matters: The event will be a one-stop-shop to try dishes and drinks prepared by 10+ of the most notable people working in New Orleans hospitality right now.

Zoom in: The James Beard Foundation brings its Taste America events to 20 cities.

The goal is to celebrate "culinary excellence and the local independent restaurants at the heart of our communities, bringing together chefs, mixologists, and food lovers for unique dining experiences," a press release says.

The full chef lineup is stacked. It includes:

Martha Wiggins of Café Reconcile
Charly Pierre of Fritai
Sophina Uong of Mister Mao
EJ Lagasse of Emeril's
Nikki Cabrera Mills of Pêche Seafood Grill
Marlon Chukumerije of Chicken's Kitchen
Tom Branighan of MaMou
Edgar Caro of Brasa
Kaitlin Guerin of Lagniappe Baking Co.
And chefs Arvinder Vilkhu and Ashwin Vilkhu of Saffron Nola, Alex Harrell of The Gloriette and Samuel Peery of King Brasserie + Bar in the VIP area.

Participating bartenders include Chris Hannah of Jewel of the South, Liz Kelley of Cure, Hadi Ktiri of the Chandelier Bar at the Four Seasons Hotel New Orleans and Ellie Rogers of Sylvain.

If you go: General admission tickets for the walk-around tasting are $150 and provide access to nearly a dozen dishes, plus drinks by four select bartenders.

VIP tickets are $225 and include early entry and access to additional dishes.
