Whether you've got a ticket to "The Eras Tour" or not, you'll likely feel the impact of Taylor Swift's arrival in Indianapolis.
The big picture: Swift pulls up to the Circle City sandwiched between Halloween celebrations and a contentious presidential election, meaning it could be a time of high stress for many of us.
Why it matters: Knowledge is power, so having all the info on this weekend's dos and don'ts could be the key to protecting your peace.
Zoom in: From road closures to merch tents, here's what you need to know to celebrate — or survive — the final U.S. stop of "The Eras Tour."
☀️ Weather: A warmer-than-usual fall in Indy means mild concert temperatures. Expect Friday and Saturday to have highs in the 60s, and lows in the high 30s/low 40s.
- Sunday is the warmest, but wettest, day of the tour. The forecast calls for a high of 72 and a low of 60 with a 40% chance of rain.
🛍️ Merch: Hall I of the Indiana Convention Center will be open to those with or without a ticket to the show from 12-8pm on Friday and Saturday.
- Merchandise will also be available on every level of Lucas Oil Stadium for concertgoers.
🎤 Entertainment: Indy Arts Council is hosting programming at 13 downtown locations, including SPARK on the Circle, Hudnut Commons, Georgia Street, Lugar Plaza and Bicentennial Unity Plaza with pop-up performances.
- Learn more about the artists involved and details of performance times here.
🚕 Getting there: Two rideshare zones are being established on South Street between Missouri and West Streets; and in the Lilly Lot at Delaware & South Streets.
- The Lilly Lot also doubles as the parent pick-up zone.
- The drop-off zone is on McCarty Street, south of Lucas Oil Stadium.
- There are also a number of road closures, parking restrictions and detours that you can check out at this link.
- Alternative transportation options like Rideshare, Pacers Bikeshare and IndyGo are encouraged.
🆘 Assistance: Nearly 100 street team volunteers wearing pink Indy shirts and beanies will be deployed across the city to help visitors.
✈️ Flights: Indianapolis International Airport is getting in on the fun by adding special "Swift City" decor to Civic Plaza.
- The airport has increased incoming flight seat capacity and added round trip flights from key destinations.
- People traveling this weekend can also listen to live music at the airport and make friendship bracelets with local Girl Scouts.
🍴 Eat like a Swiftie: A number of Indianapolis eateries are adding Swift-inspired creations to their food and drink menus for a limited time.
- Here are 10 specials to check out.
- Food truck zones will also operate from 12-8pm Friday through Sunday on Maryland Street, adjacent to Hudnut Commons, and in the southwest quadrant of Monument Circle near SPARK.
🪩 Things to do: Hotels, restaurants and businesses are hosting Swiftie-themed events all weekend to shake off the FOMO of not scoring tickets.
- Here are 22 events in Indy.
🍎 Study up: For fans interested in going deeper into the meaning behind Swift's lyrics before the show, Indy native Jennifer Holcomb hosts the podcast "AP Taylor Swift."
- A former English teacher at the University of Indianapolis and Providence Cristo Rey High School, Holcomb offers breakdowns of Swift lyrics and track titles similar to the literary analysis typically found in an AP English class.
- Check it out on Spotify, Apple and other major streaming platforms.
🤳🏻 Advice: Wear comfy shoes and don't sing in your videos if you want to hear Swift singing. Also, use low exposure on your phone to capture the best photos and videos.
The bottom line: Be patient if you are out and about this weekend, and don't risk parking somewhere you shouldn't. You're likely to get towed.
