Dallas had women's hockey for a night.
Why it matters: North Texas trained a standout of the gold-winning U.S. women's hockey team but doesn't have a permanent professional team.
State of play: The Professional Women's Hockey League visited Dallas for the first time in December as part of its national tour to introduce more fans to the upstart league.
The Seattle Torrent and New York Sirens played to a crowd of more than 8,500 fans, many of whom carried signs asking for a team in Dallas.
The intrigue: The Sirens, who won 4-3 in the December Dallas game, have struggled with fan attendance at their home arena.
