The big picture: The median age of people getting married for the first time was nearly 30 in 2024, up around two years from 2010, new Census Bureau data shows.
That figure has climbed as young adults delay traditional milestones. In 1950, the median age at first marriage was roughly 22.
Zoom in: Texans get married at just over 29 years old, slightly younger than the national median.
In 2010, the median age in Texas was 26.7.
Texans are also having children later. Nearly 46% of pregnancies in 2023 had birth mothers in their 30s or older, compared to less than 30% in 1997.
The intrigue: Taylor Swift, who has a new album out, and Travis Kelce will be older than America's typical newlyweds.
