Fox 32's top news anchor, Dawn Hasbrouck, has left Fox 32 after nearly 17 years.
Why it matters: Hasbrouck signed off late last week as colleagues showered her with compliments on air.
- The Chicago native was only the second female ever to lead the station's 9pm news.
Context: Hasbrouck is the latest personality to depart Fox 32 this year, joining sports anchor Lou Canellis, political reporter Paris Schutz, and longtime anchor Sylvia Perez.
- Morning anchor Roseanne Tellez and Hasbrouck's former 9pm co-anchor, Scott Schneider, were fired in the spring.
What they're saying: "Dawn Hasbrouck has signed off at FOX Chicago," the station wrote on social media. "Her commitment to journalism and to serving Chicago has left a lasting mark on our newsroom and our viewers."
Reality check: The overhaul of Fox 32's on-air lineup has coincided with a leadership transition at the station.
- Sean O'Heir was promoted to VP of news content and programming in late 2025 after decades at Fox 32, where he most recently led efforts to expand the station's digital presence.
- O'Heir has been busy remaking the staff, bringing in new reporters and anchors, including sports anchor Cassie Carlson and reporter Sam Panayotovich.
The backstory: Hasbrouck grew up in Chicago and attended St. Ignatius College Prep before earning a master's degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism.
- She started at Fox 32 as an intern before becoming a reporter and morning anchor. In 2024, she was promoted to anchor the station's flagship 9pm newscast.
- Before returning to Chicago, Hasbrouck worked in Boston, Milwaukee and Savannah, Georgia.
What we're watching: Hasbrouck hasn't said what's next or whether she'll remain in the Chicago market.
- It's also unclear who Fox 32 will pick to anchor the station's 5pm and 9pm newscasts going forward.
