Earlier this year, Batavia-based Aldi held a contest to choose the nation's 25 biggest superfans and found one in a Downers Grove instructor whose students call her "The Aldi lady," but who the store's reps know as Lauren Prosser.
Driving the news: Monica thinks she deserves the local superfan title, but forgot to join the 11,000 people who entered the contest.
- Instead, she did the next best thing and interviewed Prosser.
What are your top core Aldi products?
- Southern Grove Apple Cinnamon Coconut Clusters (great in yogurt)
- Bake Shop Chocolate Dipped Donuts
- The Park Street Deli dips (Salted Caramel Cannoli Dip, Pineapple Poblano Fresh Guacamole, and Mexicali, to name a few)
- Deli meat (Aldi is my husband's preferred place for deli meat, so I always pick it up there for our family.)
What are some of the best "finds" (weekly product specials) you have purchased?
- "I have so many holiday decorations that I put out and often get many compliments on. My recent favorite find is the battery-operated flocked garland and wreath. I couldn't believe each one was only $20!"
What are your most prized pieces of Aldi clothing?
- "My amazing Aldi Quarter Club jacket! Outside of that beauty, my favorite would have to be my Aldi holiday sweaters!"
- "Two years ago, I went to my Aldi 30 minutes before the store opened to make sure I could get the blue reindeer sweater and matching hat. When I arrived, there were already 10 people in line waiting in the cold! ... When those doors opened, you would have thought it was Black Friday back in the 2000s! We walked quickly (some may say ran) and headed straight to the sweaters. I wiggled my way in and got one! This year, I was able to snag the button-down pink and red sweater to add to my holiday collection!"
How many Aldi things have you worn at the same time?
- "Five! To work, I have rocked the matching Aldi sweatshirt and jogger set, an Aldi beanie hat, an Aldi backpack, and, of course, paired it with my Aldi gym shoes. I was also carrying my Aldi coffee thermos ... so does that count as six?"
