Yelp ranks Chicago worst city for car upkeep

Why it matters: Car repairs aren't cheap. Maybe showing the bill to our alders when we're harping on them to fill potholes could get their attention.

Zoom in: The report is based on Yelp searches from January to December 2024 for repairs, including flat tires and battery jumps, and even personal injury lawyers.

• The top five repairs users request quotes for are brake repair, oil change, windshield replacement, towing and transmission repair.

The intrigue: Yelp also lists the top 100 mechanics in the U.S., with six Chicago-area businesses making the list. Rockwell Auto Clinic in North Center ranks highest in the area at No. 36.

• Chicago, Wheeling and Palatine mechanics also made the list.
