WGN Radio extends Bob Sirott in the morning

Context: The veteran broadcaster returned to WGN Radio in 2020 to host the morning show after two previous midday stints from 2007-2010 and 2013-2015.

• Sirott replaced Steve Cochran after Nexstar bought the station in 2019.

Flashback: Sirott made his name in radio as part of the legendary lineup of WLS hosts in the 1970s, including John "Records" Landecker and Larry Lujack.

• He's also been a television anchor for Fox 32, CBS 2, NBC 5 and WTTW.

"Bob's work ethic, focus and character is the stuff of legends in the broadcast industry," WGN general manager Mary Sandberg Boyle said.

• WGN is tied for 10th place in the latest radio ratings.
