Incumbent Rep. Sean Casten wins in Illinois' 6th Congressional District

U.S. Rep. Sean Casten (D) defeated Republican challenger Niki Conforti to retain his seat in Illinois' 6th District.

The big picture: Casten has served the suburban district since defeating former Republican Rep. Peter Roskam in 2018.

Zoom in: Casten continues to benefit from redrawn congressional district maps after the 2020 census. The 6th District includes suburbs like Palos Hills, Downers Grove and Orland Park.

Casten has been active in Congress, focusing on key issues like climate change. He serves on the Select Committee on the Climate Crisis and was involved in crafting the Inflation Reduction Act.

The other side: Conforti, of Glen Ellyn, ran a campaign focusing on immigration and public safety, in line with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

This was her first time running for public office.
