Illinois U.S. Rep. Lauren Underwood wins reelection in the 14th District

State of play: This election season, Underwood spent most of her time campaigning for Vice President Harris in neighboring states after getting a prime-time speaking slot at the Democratic National Convention in August.

Flashback: Underwood beat her GOP challenger in 2020 by a handful of votes, narrowly avoiding a recount. Since the maps have been redrawn, the former nurse has had an easier time.

• The 14th District, once held by former Republican House Speaker Denny Hastert, now includes the city of Joliet.

The other side: Marter is an Oswego Library District Board trustee and served as a delegate for former President Trump at this year's Republican National Convention.
