I was recently driving past the old Vienna factory on Elston, where a $20 million Vienna Beef Plaza, with retail and recreation, is already taking shape.

In fact, Binny's Beverage Depot is already open.

This got me wondering about what drinks folks should pick up when they visit Vienna's store and eatery opening in the first half of 2025 with "elevated versions of Vienna classics."

The suggestions: Social media pals inundated me with great hot dog pairing ideas including:

A wine-like beer or sour ale. (Alison C.)
California cab or white Rhone wine to stand up to the hot dog juices. (Ray H.)
With a Chicago dog, riesling or champagne is always in good taste. (Phil V.)
Sauvignon blanc with ice. (Jeff Z.)
