For the second month in a row, Chicago's classic rock station "The Drive" is at the top of Chicago's radio ratings.
The big picture: "The Drive" has supplanted WLIT ("The Lite"), which held the top spot for all of last year.
The biggest jump: V103. The perennial powerhouse R&B station climbed up to tie "The Lite" for second place.
The biggest drop: Talk radio. WGN-AM took a tumble, losing almost a full percentage point (3.8 to 3.0) and dropping out of the top 10.
WBEZ-FM (NPR) also continued its drop after a tumultuous first half of 2024 (2.0 to 1.6). It is now out of the top 20 and one tick ahead of WFMT-FM (Classical).
Caveat: These ratings don't break down precisely when people are tuning in, or specific listener demographics.
Disclosure: Justin Kaufmann has worked for a number of these stations.
