1 big thing: π« Where to watch the planes
A new $8M airport overlook opens at Charlotte Douglas International Airport today.
Why it matters: It offers an open-to-the-public way to witness the action at CLT, one of the world's busiest airports.
What to expect: The 600,000-square-foot space has skyline and runway views, playgrounds, a fighter jet, a USAir Flight 1016 memorial, shaded areas, plus picnic tables.

2. πͺ The viral N.C. gym everyone's talking about
Club Cardio & Fitness Bar has one of the hottest exercise classes in North Carolina.
Why it matters: Classes sell out within hours, making it difficult to get into the Raleigh-based gym or even one of its nationwide pop-ups, which are held in cities like Charlotte, Orlando, Atlanta and Houston.
Catch up quick: One of the gym's viral videos might've come across your Instagram timeline. Owner Sherry Ringer says their video content caught the attention of singer Ciara, which landed Club Cardio a feature in one of her music videos.
What to expect: The urban gym offers a variety of fitness classes including high-intensity boot camps, personal training plus a glutes and abs camp. Exercises are done to hip-hop music and occasionally R&B tunes.
If you go: Find their pop-up schedule for Charlotte and beyond in the gym's Instagram bio.
3. π Free rides in Plaza Midwood
Starting today through Sunday, July 28, people in Plaza Midwood can get free rides with the local EV company Jaunt.
Why it matters: The rides are meant to reduce parking congestion and add accessibility to local businesses, per a press release from the Plaza Midwood Merchants Association.
How it works: Text 704-980-2742 your pick-up location and someone will drive you to your destination as long as it's located within a one-mile radius of the Plaza Midwood business district.
- Free Jaunt rides are available in Plaza Midwood on Fridays and Saturdays from 4-10pm and Sundays from 12-6pm.
What's next: This is an eight-week trial period but Phil Gussman, a board member of the Plaza Midwood Merchants Association, says they "hope to transition directly into a low-priced micro-mobility solution for Plaza Midwood!"

"I was born and raised in Charlotte ... I feel a tremendous amount of pride."β Jessica Vestal
Jess, from Season 6 of "Love is Blind," will star in another Netflix reality TV series called "Perfect Match."
Context: In a recent interview with Axios' Maxwell Millington, Jess said she is "so proud" to represent Charlotte in another reality show, and gave a shoutout to Kenzie Petty for her recent win on "Survivor."
- Vestal will be joined by her former controversial castmate Trevor Sova, who was allegedly in a relationship while filming "Love is Blind."
