The first freezingtemperatures after summer are arriving later in Seattle and many U.S. cities, a new analysis finds.
Why it matters: It's another indication of fall warming amid climate change.
Zoom in: Compared to 1970, Seattle's first freeze now comes an average of nine days later, according to a recent report from Climate Central, a climate research group.
Zoom out: Nearly 90% of the 204 U.S. cities analyzed in the report now see their first freeze later in the year.
The group defines "first freeze" as the first calendar date from Aug. 1 onward with low temperatures at or below 32°F.
