Incumbent Bruce Harrell slightly increased his lead in the race for Seattle mayor yesterday, with progressive organizer Katie Wilson now trailing by about 8 percentage points.
Wilson had about 45.7% of the vote, while Harrell had about 53.8% after two days of counting in the vote-by-mail election.
The big picture: In Seattle city elections, left-leaning candidates often gain ground as later ballots are counted, making the race still too close to call.
Zoom out: The outcomes were clearer in two other high-profile city races, even before yesterday's ballot drop.
Council President Sara Nelson lost her seat to Dionne Foster, the former head of a progressive nonprofit, per the Seattle Times.
The newspaper called the race in Foster's favor on election night, when Nelson trailed by more than 16 points.
City Attorney Ann Davison also was unseated by former federal prosecutor Erika Evans, the Times reported, with Evans leading Davison by more than 25 percentage points.
Elsewhere, in the race for King County executive, Girmay Zahilay slightly increased his lead over Claudia Balducci, capturing about 50.6% of the vote to Balducci's 48.2%.
What's next: Another ballot count is scheduled to be released around 4pm today.
