Rain returns to Seattle after dry spring

Driving the news: Rain and showers are expected in the Seattle area Wednesday through Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

What they're saying: "Depending on your outlook, it's either good or bad," NWS Seattle meteorologist Dustin Guy told Axios.

• "If you've got outdoor plans, expect a fairly dreary and wet solstice weekend, said Guy. "But given the fire conditions we're in now, some precipitation is good."

By the numbers: Sea-Tac has recorded zero measurable rain so far this month, a time when we'd normally see nearly an inch, Guy said.

• Temperatures have also run 2.4°F above average this month, including a record-breaking 90-degree day on June 8.

The big picture: This isn't the start of June-uary, though, just a brief intermission, said Guy, and the cooldown won't last long.

What's next: Summer sunshine returns next week. Until then, enjoy the reprieve, but first, dig out your raincoat one more time.
