Seattle was among the U.S. cities with the highest overall population growth last year, adding nearly 17,000 new residents in 2024, according to new census estimates.

Zoom in: Among cities with more than 20,000 people, Seattle had the ninth-largest numeric increase in population between July 2023 and July 2024, according to census data released this month.
The Emerald City grew by about 16,800 people, reaching a total population of just under 781,000.
