Hot and fresh: 9th & Hennepin's doughnuts impress in Seattle

I finally got the chance to try doughnuts from 9th & Hennepin when I spotted their truck at the Columbia City farmers market on Saturday.
Zoom in: The small operation is all about serving hot, made-to-order doughnuts, with flavors that change weekly and are inspired by seasonal produce.
- You can get them either at the food truck that moves between locations (check schedule here), or pre-order online and pick them up Friday through Sunday mornings at a commissary kitchen in West Seattle.
Dig in: I ordered one of everything from the truck on Saturday.
- That included an oatmeal cake doughnut with maple sugar; a sweet potato cake doughnut with "pink chai" glaze; a brioche doughnut filled with rosemary lemon curd and covered in pine nut butter glaze; and a local rhubarb fritter with sumac glaze.
The verdict: Hot doughnuts are the best doughnuts. I honestly could have devoured several of these, had I not promised to bring a few home for the rest of the family.
Between the lines: There aren't any vegan options, but 9th & Hennepin typically makes a gluten free doughnut about once a month.
