Watch the Seahawks kick off the Macdonald era

Fun fact: The Hawks most recently faced the Broncos in a season opener two years ago when Seattle beat Denver, 17-16, in quarterback Russell Wilson's first game against his former team.

What we're watching: Once known for the Legion of Boom, the Seahawks' defense has become its weak spot these past couple of years, ranking 24th in points allowed and 27th in yards allowed per carry last season, Seattle Sports reports.

• Fortunately, that's the side that could benefit most from the arrival of Macdonald, former defensive coordinator for the Baltimore Ravens.
• On offense, Seattle has its eyes on new coordinator Ryan Grubb and what he can get out of rejuvenated quarterback Geno Smith, running back Ken Walker III, and wide receivers DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett and Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

What they're saying: "Guys are excited. Excited to be at home. Excited to be in front of the 12s. It's going to be loud. I hope that my ears are ringing," the famously taciturn Macdonald said at a news conference this week.
