New Colombian bakery brings treats to Sugar House

ValSof Bakery opened a Sugar House location last week, bringing its sweet and savory pastries and custards to Salt Lake City for the first time.

Why it matters: It's the first open business at this high-traffic corner since the rebuild of 2100 South.

Zoom in: The intersection with 900 East had been home to Sugar House Barbecue, Beard Papa cream puffs and Got Beauty — all of which closed within seven months while the neighborhood's main thoroughfare was under construction in 2024 and 2025.

What's inside: ValSof serves cases of breads, rolls, puff pastries, cookies, donuts and more.

Best bites: The Almojábana bread pudding is a sweet-ish take on the traditional Colombian cheese bread.

We also loved the guava cheese bread and the ground beef puff pastry with sauce.
My kid didn't share the passionfruit mousse. I'm told it was good.
