Charlie Kirk case: Tyler Robinson hearing to resume Sept. 1

State of play: As conspiracy theories surrounding the case have proliferated, prosecutors and defense attorneys clashed throughout the week over what evidence can be publicly revealed in court.

Here's three takeaways from the hearing:

1. Footage captured Robinson's movements at Utah Valley University

UVU surveillance footage showed Robinson, who wasn't a student at the school and lived about four and a half hours away, visiting the school four times on the day of Kirk's rally, David Hull, the former lead investigator of the case for the State Bureau of Investigation, said on the stand.

2. We heard from Robinson's former romantic partner for the first time

In a video interview with investigators that was shown in court, Lance Twiggs, who was living with Robinson at the time of the Sept. 10 shooting, said Robinson left their St. George home in the early morning hours that day.

When Robinson returned home the next day, he expressed regret over the shooting.

• "He wishes he hadn't done it," Twiggs said.
• Prosecutors say Robinson also left a note confessing: "I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I took it."

3. MAGA elite descended on Utah

They include: Kirk's widow, Erika, who took over as head of Turning Point USA after her husband's assassination, Donald Trump Jr., U.S. Sen. Mike Lee, as well as other family members and friends of the late conservative activist.
