Tree lightings, Santa visits and holiday kick-offs around the Salt Lake Valley

City halls, parks and town squares are lighting up with holiday festivities to mark the start of December.

Here's what's happening near you. All of these events take place Dec. 1:

🦌 Bluffdale: Visit Santa, play reindeer games and enjoy refreshments by the fire to Christmas stories and live music starting 5:30pm at Bluffdale City Park.

🎅 Draper: Santa and other dignitaries will turn on a light display of more than 3 million bulbs at 6pm in Draper Park.

🎁 Holladay: Enjoy live music, a winter market, the tree lighting and Santa's arrival starting at 5:30 pm at Holladay City Village Plaza.

💡 Cottonwood Heights: Light the Heights pairs a holiday market with Santa visits, cocoa, crafts, live music and a tree lighting starting at 5pm at Cottonwood Heights City Hall.

🧑‍🎄 Riverton: Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive on a fire engine to cocoa, marshmallow roasting, crafts and cookies at 6:30pm in Riverton City Park.

🎄 Taylorsville: Enjoy music, hot chocolate, cookies and a tree-lighting ceremony at 6:30pm on Centennial Plaza.

🍪 West Valley City: Hunt for candy canes, win a prize for the ugliest sweater and enjoy cookies and cocoa as the tree lights up at 6:30pm at the Family Fitness Center in Centennial Park.

🪦 Memorial Cemeteries: Locations in Holladay, West Jordan and Bountiful will host their remembrances and tree lightings at 6pm, with cocoa, luminaries and music.

Don't worry, these events aren't designed to be overly morose.
The Memorial Cemetery tree lighting in Cottonwood Heights is Dec. 8.
