A pair of homegrown Mexican eateries are joining Salt Lake City's buzzy Post District.
Driving the news: West Valley City-based La Casa Del Tamal and Azúcar, a Mexican restaurant and a Mexican coffee shop, opened a shared location in the district on Thursday.
Between the lines: La Casa Del Tamal is celebrated for its elevated Mexican plates, while Azúcar crafts espresso-based drinks like Mazapán and horchata lattes.
- It's the second outpost for both eateries.
The big picture: The Post District, home to four luxury apartment complexes, has quickly become one of the city's top dining destinations with the additions of Mensho and Sunday's Best this year.
- Regulars can expect to find familiar dishes like the loaded molcajate and the restaurant's signature tamales.
- At this location, the specialty menu includes high-end dishes like the ribeye steak and fire-grilled octopus.
What I tried: The restaurant's tender chicken tamales packed heat in a vibrant salsa verde. The slow-cooked quesabirria tacos deliverd a gooey, cheesy bite.
