Hill Highlights: Lawmakers tackle Daylight Saving Time

Between the lines: Unlike in recent years, when legislators honed in on eliminating diversity, inclusion and equity programs and barring transgender girls in high school sports, no single bill, so far, has stood out as a primary focus.

What we're watching: In an unexpected move, a bill to permanently keep Utah on Standard Time advanced Wednesday out of a House committee with unanimous support.

• The Golf Alliance of Utah spoke out against the bill sponsored by state Rep. Joseph Elison (R-Toquerville).
• The golf industry has long-preferred Daylight Saving Time so they have more daylight to play in the evening.

The intrigue: Senate President Stuart Adams told reporters this week he'd pursue placing last year's Amendment D in front of voters again.

• The voided proposed constitutional amendment sought to give state lawmakers more control to alter or repeal citizen initiatives.
• Constitutional amendments can only appear on the ballot during even-numbered years.
