Richmond's Carytown finally gets a welcome sign

• The start-to-finish process for it took nearly two years and was a partnership among the city, Carytown Merchants Association and 5th district Councilperson Stephanie Lynch.
• But the push for Carytown to have some visible signage has been over a decade in the making.

Fun fact: Kelley Banks, CMA's city liaison, told Axios that the key team involved in designing and installing the sign is made up of Richmond area-based companies.

• That includes Wellcraft Mfg, Messer Contracting, Campfire & Co and Banks, who owns Merrymaker Fine Paper.

What's next: The sign will light up for the first time on Friday night at 6:30pm.
