Mt. Hood Meadows sets early closing date

What they're saying: "Our team has been working hard day and night all season long to get this mountain into the best shape it can be with the conditions and cards we have been dealt," the resort said in a social media post.

• "It is requiring A LOT of work to get the mountain back in shape every day, which we love to do but we are just running out of snow to work with."
• Meadows did say a bunch of new snow could change their calculus, and the National Weather Service is forecasting up to a foot of fresh snow between Wednesday and Thursday, but it's unclear if that will be enough.

Thought bubble: I was lucky enough to get what will likely be my last day on the hill this season last week.

• There was more dirt than I would've liked, but the snow was what you expect for late-season skiing: fast and firm in the morning, slushy and a little slow in the afternoon.
• Still, a tremendous way to spend a sunny spring day.

What's next: If you're still looking to get on the snow past April 12, Timberline Lodge, which has a lift that goes up onto the Palmer Glacier, is promising to keep their spring season going into late May.
