By the winter solstice Dec. 21, we'll be down to a little more than eight hours of light a day, nearly 3 hours and 17 minutes less than we have now, per Time and Date.
Why it matters: The dark, wet Pacific Northwest winters can leave some residents grappling with seasonal depression and scrambling for ways to cope.
