3 Oregon hotels make USA Today's top wine stay list

Oregon has some of the best wine country hotels in the country, per a new ranking from USA Today, and two of them are less than an hour from Portland.

Why it matters: We all need a fancy getaway every once in a while.

The big picture: Oregon took three spots on the nationwide Best Wine Country Hotel ranking.

Carlton's Inn the Ground nabbed the 10th spot, with a more modern take on luxury right in the middle of a working regenerative farm, complete with complimentary wine tastings and permaculture tours.
The Allison Inn & Spa in Newberg took No. 9 and offers nearly 80 rooms, along with eight suites, all situated on 35 acres overlooking the vineyards and farms of the Willamette Valley.
At No. 7, Ashland's Winchester Inn is nestled in Rogue Valley wine country — which was named the No. 2 wine region in the country by USA Today — and offers more of a boutique feel with gourmet breakfast served every morning.

The bottom line: You don't have to go far to find some of the best luxury stays in the country.
