The move threatens to raise prices for everything from food and clothes to cars and computers imported from Canada, China and Mexico.
By the numbers: Oregon imported $28 billion worth of goods from other countries last year, according to OPB's analysis of federal trade data. The state's top imports were computer and electronic products, machinery and transportation equipment, as well as apparel.
Oregon received roughly $100 million of furniture from China, plus $78 million in toys and sports equipment from the country.
Over $742 million of fertilizer came from Canada into Oregon in 2024.
What we're watching: Anticipated retaliatory tariffs from those countries could compound costs for consumers.
They could also hurt Oregon's exports economy, while worsening the state's housing affordability crisis by further squeezing the construction sector.
