I'm calling it now: Meet the new vegan In-N-Out. Photo: Meira Gebel/Axios
Face Plant, the new all-vegan drive-thru and dine-in restaurant, will host a soft opening today and I got to try several of the menu items ahead of time.
Best bites: The menu is pretty straightforward, with single- and double-patty burgers, nuggets, fries, shakes and fountain drinks.
"The Fancy" is the main event. Made with Impossible Foods faux meat and Molly Baz's proprietary spice blend, it comes topped with tomato, onion, lettuce and In-N-Out-style sauce.
Yes, but: It was the nuggets, which were perfectly golden and crispy, and dip that got top marks from me.
The fries were thickly cut and straight-up delicious, too. Photo: Meira Gebel/Axios
The bottom line: It took me nearly an hour to get through the drive-thru line, so if you plan to go, be prepared to wait. And, just as one crew member assured me, the food was perfectly hot.
