A little less than four weeks later, and the 2024 election is officially over in Oregon.
Driving the news: County elections officials statewide will certify local results today — finalizing vote totals and turnout numbers — and send them to the Secretary of State's office to become official.
After that, Gov. Tina Kotek has until Thursday to declare voter-approved local and statewide ballot measures as new laws. The measures will then be implemented immediately, unless otherwise specified.
The intrigue: Although Democrats have squarely swept all the top races for statewide offices — like secretary of state, attorney general and treasurer — one state House seat in rural Woodburn remained too close to call up until the very end.
Democratic challenger Lesly Muñoz seems to have pulled ahead in the final days, securing the party a three-fifths supermajority needed to pass new taxes without Republican support.
What's next: Newly elected officials will be sworn in next month.
